"The Blue Bomber" that's what we call her. This truck is awesome! A 1995 F800 that has rebuilt from the groud up. The truck version of the 5.9 Cummins Diesel, a 6 speed transmission, a 20,000 rated 21' bed and a TON of new or refurbished parts! This truck only has 167k on it.
When we got this truck, it had been run into the ground by the previous owner. The tranny was full of filings, the engine leaked anti freeze and oil faster than you could put it in, the bed stringers had collapsed and the deck rubbed on the top of the wheels and a whole list of other things were wrong.
But we felt it had value. As a rollback, it's very unique and a brute!
The first step was to repair the bed. We removed the bed, flipped it over in the shop and proceeded to completely cut out all the old stringers and replace them with new.
Here are few of the things repaired or replaced:
- Bed was removed and all ribs replaced.
- Rails were flopped to take advantage of new bearing pad surface.
- Pipe was installed to facilitate protection for light wiring down the side of the bed
- LED clearance lights were installed in bed rail.
- New wear pads were installed.
- All new Hydraulic Hoses.
- All new wiring.
- New PTO pump
- New rope on winch
- Overhead light was repaired.
- All work lights repaired and rewired.
- Entire bed repainted with industrial grade black paint.
After the bed was reinstalled, we then completed all the other repairs
- All engine oil leaks were addressed.
- Engine anti freeze leak was a bad head gasket, head was removed, surfaced and a new gasket installed
- Injector pump leaks repaired
- Entire hydro brake system replaced or repaired.
- Front suspension components repaired or replaced as necessary
- 6 speed transmission replaced with a reman unit from Drive Train Industries
- KLAM retarder circuits repaired (2 had failed)
- Drve line bearings replaced.
- Front springs replaced
- Rear springs replaced.
- New brake shoes
- All new tires (currently 85%+)
I mean, the list is endless. This truck is now as reliable (if not more so) than when it was brand new. Even the dash was completely replaced! If you want a truck that can haul anything you put on it, this is the dude. The truck was designed specifically for use in the Colorado Mountains. The KLAM retarder makes coming down out of them at speed completely safe and the 5.9 Cummins will get you up them just as effortlessly.
I would love to see this truck go to someone that spends all day double loaded. Loading 2 crew cab diesel duallies on it won't even slow it down. The 22" tires give an amazing amount of tread life (Usually in excess of 100k!)
Bring your cash, be ready to deal. If we sold it for 30k, we'd be taking a loss. Yours today for $18,000
